Waybe Learning Resources

1. Google Sketchup Tutorial

It's helpful to have an understanding of Google Sketchup before using Waybe. If you're not familiar with Sketchup, watch the Sketchup tutorial videos after downloading and installing Google Sketchup v7 (free or pro).

2. Sample Waybe Models

Sometimes the best way to learn is to play around with somebody else's creations.  We've provided these sample models for you to play around with to see how grouping and unfolding works with Waybe in Google SketchUp.  These models are scaled to standard paper size and 5mm tab size.

5. Waybe (FAQ) Frequently Asked Questions

My model won’t unfold properly – what can I do?

Unfolding complex shapes is a near impossible task for even the most sophisticated unfold algorithm.  To make Waybe unfold your complex object, you must be sure that your object is a collection of Sketchup groups and component-instances which are individually relatively simple.

If you feel the shape that cannot be unfolded should be unfoldable, please submit the .skp file and a description of the problem.

My model is too large / small on the printout – what is going on?

Waybe printouts match the scale used in Sketchup.  If your model is printing too large or too small, please scale it up or down inside of sketchup to your desired dimensions.  You may, alternatively, use a printer with a larger paper size to accommodate the large model but be sure to specify the paper size in ‘waybe setup’, found in the ‘plugins’ menu.

Another option is to use the “scale to paper” option which will set your model’s size to fit in the selected paper size.
