We are offering Waybe Education 2.4 for FREE during the 2009-2010 school year.  In order to qualify, you need to work in a school or school district.

Waybe is popular in the classroom as it provides a low-cost solution (in this case free) for bridging digital 3D design with real 3D objects.  Think of it as a super-discount 3D printer!

We have included two documents to help you inform your colleagues about Waybe (introduction_to_waybe) and brainstorm ways that Waybe can support advanced education in technology (waybe_curriculum).

To join the pilot, click here and remember to include "Education Pilot" in the comments section.

We've released Waybe 2.4 for demoing now. It features improved tabbing, unfolding, and code protection so it will always work with other plugins.

Try it out and send us any comments you have!

We've released Waybe 2.3. New features include a better looking print window, the ability to save unfolded images to the desktop, and improved saving for the whole unfolded model.

This is a free upgrade for everyone who presently has Waybe. Enjoy, and send us any comments you have.

We've updated Waybe 2.0. The tabs have been improved, and are nicer looking and easier to cut out in many cases.

Registration is improved as well, for those that have been having trouble, and there are various bugfixes. This is a standard upgrade for 1.4 and 2.0; you can download the new installer from the demo page and install over your original version without having to reregister. Send us any comments or questions you might have!

When you start Waybe, it will complain that the registration is bad. I missed a test file when I was making the installers. Just ignore the message and restart Sketchup.

Update: I fixed this. Download the new installer from the Demo page.

We've released Waybe 2.0, with all the neat features we mentioned below. Better tabbing, better unfolding, and new, user-controllable unfolding.

You can select an edge to be "fixed" or "broken", and Waybe will keep the edge together or take it apart as you like. There's also the ability to select a face as the "base" of a part, which means Waybe unfolds around it. These two features let you make more complex models and have them unfold exactly the way you want.

Below is the Chichen-Itza pyramid from Mexico, made with Waybe 2.0. If ever you feel the need to make a huge model, you can. It's almost a meter wide, and half a meter tall.

We are constantly trying to improve the unfolding and printing capability of Waybe.  We are currently developing some extra powerful features to make unfolding increasingly easier and faster.  One of these features includes an ability to define edges as either 'fixed' or 'broken'.  'Fixed' edges will not be 'cut' during unfolding whereas broken edges will generally be cut.  Waybe's AI will still unfold if, for instance, all the edges of a face are set to 'broken' - it will simply do the best unfold possible with the information provided.

We are really excited about these new features and wanted to let our users know about them.  We expect to see Waybe 2.0 in the summer or fall.  Waybe 1.4 users will receive a free upgrade to Waybe 2.0

Some people have been having trouble getting Waybe 1.4 to install on their Macs. I've updated the file; if anyone has any trouble at all, please send me an email at waybeco@gmail.com

Dear Waybe users,

We are happy to announce the release of a much improved version of Waybe - Waybe 1.4.  Older versions of Waybe will cease working after April 1, 2009.  If you have already purchased Waybe, you are welcome to receive this new major upgrade of Waybe free of charge.  However, to do so, you will need to do the following:

2) Uninstall your previous version of Waybe.

3) Download Waybe demo 1.4 from http://waybe.weebly.com/waybe-demo.html

4) Install the demo download, startup Sketchup and click on the menu item 'plugins->Waybe setup->Register' and use your new key (we will email this to you within 48 hours) to register your hobby version of Waybe.  Registration can take 1-3 minutes.  Note you will need an internet connection for the registration to work properly.

5) Restart Sketchup.

Best of luck in your designing, unfolding and building!
